The electricity people have told us we will be without power from about 8 a.m. today for most of the day for upgrade/maintainance work on the main supply line.

Many apologies if it takes a while to get back to you.

Nick, our main contractor is due here this morning to discuss a completion date for the building work, which will hopefully be by early next week at the latest!

The decorators, carpet fitters etc can then be confirmed for the second half of next week and the guest who are booked in for the weekend of 11/12 Feb will be able to see the new rooms in almost their final glory.

After today’s chat with Nick we will then open the new rooms for booking at a time when we are 100% confident they will be completely furnished, snagged and ready for occupation!

When we know that date look out for a great “launch offer” tempting you to be one of the first residents in our new rooms.

After a very much needed and enjopyable extended break we are back at Tudor House and ready for a busy Christmas.

The work on the roof & guttering is complete and has withstood the very stern test the weather has given it over the last couple of days/night.

All the internal work & decorating has also been finished and we shall be firing up the new log burner to welcome our first guests since reopening this afternoon.

The place looks a picture and we look forward to showing it off to guests both new and returning over the coming months.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

2 pieces of very sad news this week has prompted this post.

A sporting hero and a business icon have both passed away in the last couple of days, neither of them got any where near 60 years old.

Whatever it is you are thinking about doing, get on with it, as someone once said “Life is not a rehersal” and for these great people there is now no chance for a second take.

DO IT!!!

November Closure

IT’S ALMOST HERE! SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE.

Tudor House is somewhere that needs lots of TLC, and since taking over we have been trying to apply it by the bucket load!

Much of it we can do on a day to day basis, but some would be too intrusive to try & apply whilst we try to entertain guests.

So, as last year, we are trying to kill two birds with one stone and close this November for much needed attention to the dining room & lounge roof AND get some much needed R&R ourselves.

The plan is to close after guests leave on 6th November and be ready for business by the first week in December, but we will keep you posted!!

We will now undertake the room upgrade work in the New Year so will be closed from 31 December until sometime in the middle of February, but again we will update you as soon as we know how things are going.

The Waverley

It’s not the first one this year, but “The Waverley” will be passing Tudor House tomorrow mornig just before 11 a.m. – if it’s on time!

As usual there will be coffee & Paganum bacon sandwiches for anybody in the area at the time who fancies popping in and waving her by.

It is an extremely impressive site and the passengers always give us a wave back. Don’t miss it!!!

Festival season

It’s that time of year again where everybody and everywhere seems to have one kind of festival or another and thousands of daft people spend days wallowing in mud and trying to live in a tent in the middle of a field with no facilities.

One Festival that is definitely worth a second look is the one in Grassington.

There is no ‘Love Thy Neighbour’ about it, just a quality and very varied program of events, concerts, exhibitions etc all the way through to 2 July.

Tonight we are off to see Lee Evans preview his forthcoming national tour, and hopefully on Friday we’ll find the time to see Gerry and his Pacemaker – sorry Gerry & the Pacemakers.

If you are looking for something to do on Saturday you could contact the ticket office to see if there have been any returns to see Boney M, Rose Royce, The Real Thing & others for a great party Night finale.

Don’t you just love it when somebody says that – the sad fact is, it’s true!! Before you know where you are the summer is over, the nights are drawing in and you are wondering what to do about Christmas.
