It’s not what we think or say………..
…….it’s what others say about us that really makes a difference.
Having registered with Trip Advisor last year we are delighted that 67 guests at Tudor House have taken the time & trouble to post their reflections on their time at Tudor House. We are extremely proud that 62 of those guests saw fit to score us at 5 out of 5.
Similarly, 28 reviews left on Booking.com have earned us an average mark of 9 out 10 and 7 out of 8 reviews on Laterooms mark us at a full 6 out of 6.
To add to this we are now very pleased to be a “Featured Escape” on the prestigious Yorkshire Escapes travel guide site. We’ll let you find your way there via the link, but we think the following conclusion says it all about what you can expect from a visit to Tudor House
…………….it’s a lovely feeling to come “home” to Tudor House at the end of a busy day.
Amazing Guest
On Wednesday we were privileged to host Doug Hamilton Cox & his wife Sue. Doug is a remarkable guy who has raised thousands and thousands of pounds for HELP FOR HEROES.
His latest escapade is a John O’Groats to Lands End walk and he has enlisted the help of the Rotary organisation to help out.
The Rotary Club of Skipton Craven were delighted to take over this responsibility on 14th May and Tudor House hosted him as he passed through our patch. Members of the clubs walking group tried to keep pace with Doug during the day, but found it tough going! A stop off in Skipton to rattle his bucket came as a welcome relief!
Members of the club then attended a BBQ at Tudor House on Wednesday evening and thankfully it kept dry.
The end result was we packed Doug off on Thursday morning rested, fed & watered and some £564 better off than when he joined us.
It was a pleasure to be a small part of his adventure.
1st steamer of the season!
There have been a few ‘unscheduled’ comings & goings of engines & carriages along the line outside, but the first scheduled steam train of the season is due past on 7th May at around 10.15 a.m.
The round Britain tour of the “Cathedrals Explorer” leaves London the day before bound for York. Then on the morning of 7th it leaves York en-route to Stirling. If on time, it will leave Skipton at 10.01 a.m. and should therefore be steaming up the Bell Busk embankment sometime after 10.10, and is due into Hellifield at 10.19.
We will of course be on the platform with coffee and mid morning pastries should you wish to join us in waving her through.
We don’t have any news as to who or what will be ‘up front’ but keep an eye on the Steam Dreams web site for more info
Happy Easter
Just a quick note to wish all the visitors to our web site a very Happy Easter and hope that you can find the time this summer to come and spend some time in this beautiful part of the world. Ade Edmondson is doing a grand job!!
When the sun shines………..
……….the Dales really are a most fantastic place. And at this time of year with lambs in every field to add to the natural wildlife and flowers it just cannot be beaten.

Why would you want to spend some of your hard earned leisure time anywhere else?
The sun had also set the phones/fax/e-mails ringing as well and bookings are way up on last year.
We would urge you to call us quickly if you are thinking of using Tudor House as your base for a stay in Ade Edmondsons favourite part of the world!
A lovely feeling
It’s when guests bother to drop you a line after their stay that the job feels very satisfying, especially with praise like this:
“We use about 4 B&B’s a year and have done for the last 18 years or so – yours is one of the best and is in our top 5. A real home from home. Keep up the good work”
IT issues
To all/any of you that have tried to e-mail us via the web site over the passed few days and have not had a prompt reply – MANY APOLOGIES!!
We have had a few IT problems which if not solved yet have been circumnavigated so we should be replying promptly again from now on
Why we do it…..
Congratulations and thank you to hosts, Bob and Sheila. Tudor House ticked all the boxes for us. Situated in a sleepy picturesque hamlet, it provides a relaxing country retreat with everything under one roof. This is a real must for the weary traveller wanting an evening meal and drink without having to turn out in the car. Our room was extremely comfortable, light and airy, with lovely furnishings. And the hospitality tray was very generous. Special mention must be made of the outstanding quality of food – all locally sourced and freshly cooked and served to a very high standard. The breakfasts include a wide range of fruit, cereal and yoghurt – and that’s before Bob’s Yorkshire full English. Even the eggs are supplied courtesy of Sheila’s chickens.  Paul and I were particularly impressed by the cosy residents’ lounge with its variety of games, books, DVDs and CDs. We also found plenty of information providing a fascinating insight into the history of TH during its days as a railway station. We thoroughly enjoyed our evenings sitting by the log fire and chatting with other guests. We have already recommended Tudor House to friends and family and look forward to our next visit later in the year. Ali and Paul Forsey, Melton, East Yorkshire
Spring – it’s arrived!!
From almost no where Spring has finally arrived. After a beautiful day ( and the forecast of more to come) we have just captured the end of it with these stunning pictures of Haw Crag as the sun sets.

Spring – nearly there!

Spring - almost there!
For the second morning running we have woken up to beautiful sunshine. We know the forecast is for occasional showers tomorrow, but it really feels like Spring is just around the corner. A guest having arrived yesterday from Scotland informing us our bulbs are well in advance of anything up there, we are confident that the worst of a long hard winter is now behind us.
All we need now is for a few more customers to come and take advantage of this beautiful part of the world and we will be made.
