Littondale – a touch of luxury

Luxurious Littondale

How do you turn a large single room ( sometimes used as a tight twin) with no en suite facilities into something special that no one else has? It took us a  few days, but in the end the answer came from the building itself – we are after all a Victorian railway station!

Without doubt THE way to travel for the rich & famous during these days was on the Orient Express from London to all points south & east, and thus it was from here our inspiration came and the new “Sleeping Compartment” in Littondale was conceived.

Dave & Edward worked miracles in lining the entire room in veneered wood including a wonderful curved ceiling to ensure that authentic feel, as well as building two bespoke full size single berths.

Once all the carpentry was finished, Arthur stained the whole room and Richard & Sheila have once again excelled with all the fixtures &  fittings with antique brass and velvet combining beautifully.

Both berths have bed head tables and private lighting, so once the curtains are closed you are cocooned in your own piece of Victorian luxury.

However, we have managed to take things one or two steps further by adding a bit of 21st century luxury.

The Orient Express (nor any other luxury train of the time)  could boast a flat screen TV with built in DVD, and Hercule Poirot may be stymied as we have installed a state of the art Mermaid board shower room that posh Victorians would have died for.

So, if railways are your thing, then if Tudor House was not the place for you before, it certainly will be now.

You can relax on the Platform if the weather is fine or cosy up next to the log burner in the Waiting Room that now serves as the residents lounge before dining in the Ticket Office before retiring to your very own Sleeping Compartment.
